On Tuesday 22 July 2025, Offploy was delighted to host the official launch of the Disclosure Toolkit and ScoreApp for Employers, attracting a vibrant audience of employers, frontline advisers, HR professionals and self-employed advocates committed to fairer hiring for people with criminal convictions.

The event was chaired by Jacob Hill, Founder and Managing Director of Offploy, who opened by reminding everyone of the power of proper disclosure in reducing reoffending, restoring dignity, and supporting safer, fairer hiring practices. Jacob also thanked our supporters, including IEP, Catch22, Maximus and Get Set UK, and celebrated the incredible sector-wide collaboration behind the Toolkit's development.

The audience heard a powerful story from Heather and Clare, who reflected on the personal cost of over-disclosure and the empowerment that comes from informed support.

Rik Willis introduced the journey behind the Disclosure Calculator and paid tribute to the early adopters who helped shape its functionality, as well as Bhav, Chris and the developers, who were key in getting it to the final launch.

This led into an informative legal and policy presentation by Dominic Headley of DHA, who explained the importance of getting disclosure right, both to avoid legal risk and to protect candidates from unnecessary exclusion.

Keith Rosser (Reed/BHI) shared valuable insights into how DBS checks are evolving across the UK and how they are used by employers, making the case for smarter, more inclusive recruitment. Keith left everyone with the thought that “Social Value should not just be about business doing good but about being good for business”.

We then turned to the new Inclusive Employment ScoreApp, followed by two dynamic panel discussions. The first, chaired by Jacob, explored how inclusive hiring contributes to social value, featuring Jo Potts (Balfour Beatty) and Sarah MacGregor (Sunbelt Rentals). The second, led by Sally Eley (Chair of the CIPD Trust), looked at how informed disclosure supports HR decision-making, with insights from Joe Lofts (Transport for Wales) and Leo Cardoso (JDM Food Group).

Throughout the event, we saw a lively chat filled with positive feedback, insightful questions, and offers of collaboration from individuals working on the frontline to major employers eager to adopt the toolkit in their onboarding.

The Offploy team are hugely grateful to everyone who joined us for this celebration of innovation, inclusion, and progress in fair chance recruitment.
