We launched www.disclosuretoolkit.org with one goal: to make understanding criminal record disclosure simple, empowering, and free for everyone.
Since going live, we’ve been blown away by the positive feedback:
“This is the first time I’ve understood what spent actually means.”
“I used it with a participant this morning, what a difference it made!”
“It’s like a weight lifted knowing what I do (and don’t) have to share.”

With 582 users as of 29 May, the toolkit has already become a vital resource for frontline advisers, jobseekers, and organisations committed to fairer hiring.
This Month’s Big Wins
Visual Clarity: We’ve added colour-coded results - green for spent convictions and red for unspent, making the outcome instantly clear.
Accessibility Improvements: Video/audio instructions are now live to support users with varying learning styles or needs.
Mobile Friendly: We’ve optimised the toolkit for use on smartphones and tablets, so you can get answers on the go, wherever you are.
Sector Adoption: We’re seeing increasing uptake across probation teams, employability providers, and HR departments and it’s only just beginning.
What’s Coming Next
We’re developing an advanced filter that will help users understand:
What shows on a Basic, Standard, or Enhanced DBS check
What types of convictions are legally disclosable at different levels

This next feature will further reduce confusion and ensure advisers and candidates have the most relevant information for the job or setting they’re applying to.
Built by the Sector, for the Sector
The Disclosure Toolkit isn’t just Offploy’s project; it belongs to the justice and employment support community. We’re grateful to the incredible frontline professionals who’ve tested, refined, and championed it. You’re helping people move forward with confidence and clarity.
